Workshop intensives at your commUNITY theatre.

Starting March 17, 2024

Join us for workshops at Angelo Civic Theatre - perfect for beginner actors looking to learn more about community theatre and veteran actors in need of a refresher course, or more specialized training! These workshops are led by Ty Matlock and China Young, who will give you all the tools you need in order to succeed as a performer.

Class size is limited, so sign up quickly!

Spotlighting the Voice

With China Young

Great for actors, singers, teachers, or anyone who speaks in front of others! This class will guide participants through an exploration of breath and relaxation techniques, connecting the breath to the voice and body in a way that promotes healthy vocal production during performance. We will also focus on articulation and resonance, integrating breath and relaxation practices with the text. This workshop will include physical exercises that are adjustable based on the abilities of each participant.

  • March 24, 2024 from 2PM to 5PM

  • Come wearing something you will feel comfortable laying on the floor and/or moving in.

    Please bring a yoga mat or a towel to lay on during floor work.

    Optional: You may bring a monologue or other selection f text you might like to work with. If you don’t have anything, no worries! We will have options on hand.

How to Present Boldly on Stage: Intro to Stage Presence

With Ty Matlock

We will explore public speaking through the performative lens of theatre! The class will learn exercises and technique that will reinforce the most basic needs of an actor in any acting space. We will work on vocal projection, stage presence, how to come across as your authentic self, and basic line analysis. These building blocks are great for anyone interested in theatre, film, presentations, speeches, or any public speaking.
